What is the difference between a “company” owned ECC and a “franchise” owned ECC? |
The company owned ECC schools are as stated
owned by the company and managed by YBM Education
Inc and contracts are guaranteed by the head
office. The franchise ECC schools are individually
owned and YBM Head Office will not be able
to mediate disputes over contracts or any
employment conditions. Please research the
franchise ECC school before accepting a contract.
YBM Head Office will not place candidates
at franchise ECC schools. Schools listed on
this website are all owned and operated by
YBM Education Inc. |

How do you arrange the air flight

YBM/ECC will prepay a one-way ticket from most major international
airport to Korea. Please ask your personnel coordinator about
the airport you wish to fly out from. If the airport you wish
to use is not one of airports we can get tickets for then you
will need to purchase your own air ticket within our price range
and receive reimbursement from the school after you have arrived.
What type of accommodation is given? |
Upon immediate arrival, teachers are placed in a motel near your ECC school or at a spare bedroom in one of our apartments. |
Can I email/contact a teacher
already teaching at your ECC institute? |
Once you have been contacted by a personnel
coordinator and have been short-listed for
a specific location you may request to receive
an email address of a current teacher at the
school you are being consider for. |
Can I choose my location? |
You will never be asked to work at a location
you do not want to work at. The contract you
sign will always have a specific school location.
Each given month we will have different openings
in various locations throughout Korea, we
will try to fit you in with the location that
you are looking for. If the only position
we have for that month was not the location
you wanted you can either choose to consider
that location or wait for the following month
to see if the location you want will have
an opening. |
What will I be typically teaching?
What is my role? |
You will be teaching English conversation,
phonics, some grammar and other English skills.
Your job is to give your students a chance
to practice their English conversation with
you and for you to teach them to speak English
properly in a manner that will allow them
to converse with other English speakers. |
Do I teach with a Korean teacher? |
You will not be teaching the same class at
the same time with a Korean teacher, however
a Korean teacher will teach the same class
at a different time. Usually our Korean teacher
is a female English teacher who majored in
English or early childhood education. Their
job is to teach the base grammar skills and
to set the structure for the students to be
able speak English with our Native English
teachers. You and your Korean English teacher
partner must work as a team to ensure that
the curriculum is covered properly. FYI, you
can never skip a particular lesson because
your English partner will be covering half
the lesson for that chapter. |
How many students are in a class? |
Average number of students per class will
be around 8-12 students. Depending on registration
the class could be as small as 4 students
or possibly just over 12 students. |
