Sanggye ECC

Hi from Sanggye ECC,

Our academy is located in Nowon-gu, a residential and commercial suburb of northeast Seoul. We are conveniently located near Nowon subway station on line 4 and 7. Downtown Seoul is also easily accessible by subway, bus, or taxi. The Nowon subway station area is considered to be the hub of Nowon-gu as it is a very busy area with many bars and clubs catering to the large expat population there.

Many large department stores as well as restaurants, clothing stores, fitness centers, doctors, dentists, and other amenities are located close to us. Sometimes referred to as ¡°the little valley,¡± you can see mountain ranges in every direction around our location. Thus, nature seekers need not travel far to escape into and explore the numerous mountain trails. Buddhist temples can be found in the mountains as well as around our area. At Sanggye ECC, the management and staff are committed to making its teachers as comfortable as possible during their time here in Korea.

Sanggye ECC currently employs up to 16 Native English teachers and Korean English teachers. Among the Korean teaching staff, three have been with Sanggye ECC for over 2 years. The fact that there are teachers who have been working at Sanggye ECC longer than a year translates into a more comfortable transition for new teachers, as well as a friendly atmosphere. The apartments of our foreign teachers are situated close to the academy. Subways, buses and taxis are readily available and make for quick, inexpensive means of transportation to-and-from work.

There are more than 600 to 700 students enrolled at Sanggye ECC at any given time as enrollment varies slightly from month to month. Many of these students have been attending Sanggye ECC for over two years. Morning classes are for kindergarten students (5-8 years old), who attend ECC on a full-time basis (Monday through Friday). Afternoon classes are for elementary school aged students (9-12). Finally, evening classes are for middle school students (13-16). Unlike the kindergarten students, elementary and middle school students attend ECC part-time, who attend two or three days a week. These students come on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Like all company-owned ECCs, our academy does not hold classes for high school students and adults.

Kindergarten teachers are required to chaperon field trips, on a rotating basis, as well as attend regularly held student birthday parties. When warranted, kindergarten classes are suspended either in part or in full, during birthdays and field trips.

Thank you and look forward to seeing you soon!
