Gangdong ECC is located within minutes from Godeok subway station on line 5 (the Purple line) exit number 5. Gangdong ECC is on the 5th floor of a commercial building surrounded by many shops, restaurants and even a large discount outlet E-mart. (the Korean version of Walmart)
Here you will run into many teachers from our competitors as there are many ESL academies nearby. Gangdong ECC is now the 3rd YBM ECC school in the southeastern zone along with Songpa and Seokchon ECC. Kang means river and dong means east in Korean, so it is literally: east river, hence the name Gangdong ECC. This area has many apartments, shops, department stores, fitness centers, restaurants, medical clinics and all the things a mid to upper-middle income district in Seoul would have. Olympic Park is also in the area and offers a pleasant natural environment where you can watch various sporting events and performances. Or you can see over 200 sculptures and works of art throughout the park, while having a picnic or a leisurely stroll.
Currently we have about 8 to 10 teachers (Native English speakers and Korean English teachers) who make up our teaching staff. Our manager has been an employee of YBM Education for many years now and knows how to work with the staff. We have recently started a kindergarten program. While our kindergarten classes are small, they are expected to grow more in the future.
If you have a chance to visit our school you will see how nice the area is and will appreciate this area, which has become very popular. That is one of the reasons why apartment prices are expensive in this neighborhood. Our apartments are not too far from our school allowing for a short commute to work
